Targeted at small, medium enterprises
It wants to capitalise on the growth in the Indian textile market
New Delhi, Sept. 7
Juki Corporation, Japanese sewing machine manufacturing exporter, will hold a three-day exhibition here from Friday to display its products in sewing machine category. The price range will vary from Rs 350 to Rs 70,000.
The exhibition is targeted at small and medium enterprises as well as major textile apparel exporters in the region.
In the light of the post multi-fibre agreement (MFA) period, Juki Corporation wants to capitalise on the current growth in the Indian textile market by expanding its operations and increasing its head count.
With restrictions being imposed on Chinese apparel exports in the US and EU markets on anti-dumping grounds, the company is expecting more demand for industrial sewing machines from countries like India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Declining to comment on the investments for its expansion in the domestic market, Mr Hari Kumar, Director, Juki, India operations said, "We are looking at some of the unreached areas to develop our business operations". With seven offices within the country, the company will be opening up a new centre in Ahmedabad shortly.
As per the Japanese fiscal year, the company's sales figure from April 2005 to March 2006 stood at yen 124.8 billion. Post-MFA, the company has witnessed 20 per cent growth from its Indian operations as compared to the last fiscal and is targeting a growth of 30 per cent.
